My name is Shawna Collick, and I am so excited to be a part of Franklin County MIddle School's awesome group of educators! As a little girl I loved to play "school" and took every opportunity that I could get to teach others   As I grew, I tutored, mentored, and even took a job as a youth pastor in a small church for a couple of years. In 1996, I came from Cincinnati, Ohio, where I grew up, and enrolled in Emmanuel College for a teaching degree. After graduating from Emmanuel College in 2000, I took a job teaching at Madison County Middle School for three years. After that, I stayed home for a while to have my two wonderful children. In 2007, I went back to graduate school and did some long term/short term subbing for FCMS. In 2008, I joined the staff full time, and in 2009, I earned my graduate degree. My educational philosophy is that ALL students, with the help of teachers, parents, and a variety of resources (including other students), can  succeed in school and in life. I also believe that it is imperative for students to take ownership of their education for true learning to take place. In the classroom, it is important to me that all of my students feel safe and capable of learning. At home, I am a mom to Hannah, 9 and Jeremiah, 7. At age 6, Hannah was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I am so proud of the way she handles all of her diabetic needs, including checking her sugar and giving herself insulin, with very little help from others. In my spare time I love to read and spend time with my kids. I also enjoy going to new places and meeting new people! I am a member of my church praise team and help with the M'pact girls Prims group on Wednesday nights. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or call the school at 706-384-4581.
