Principal's Corner

I am proud to have graduated from FCHS in 1987.  Upon graduation, I attended Truett-McConnell College.  After two years at Truett-McConnell, I transferred to UGA where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education.  A few years after graduating from UGA I returned to work on a Masters in Education degree in Middle Grades Education.  Upon earning the Masters degree, I immediately began studying at Brenau University where I earned an Educational Specialist degree in Middle Grades Education.  I have obtained other endorsements during my educational career.  These endorsements include Gifted Education, Teacher Support Specialist, and Leadership.

I began my teaching career in Jackson County.  I taught at both Jackson County Middle School and East Jackson Middle School.  After teaching in Jackson County for seven years, the opportunity arose to come home to Franklin County to teach.  I taught mathematics for ten years and was Associate Principal for four years at FCHS.  In the fall of 2013, I became an Assistant Principal at FCMS.  I am currently the principal at FCMS having been approved in March 2016.  I am honored and privileged to be able to help educate the children of my community.

I am married to James Akin.  We have two children, Ansley and Drew.  Both children graduated in May 2016.  Ansley graduated from Augusta University with a BSN degree and is working as an RN.  Drew graduated from FCHS and is currently a student at the Oconee Campus of the University of North Georgia.  We are proud to all be FC alumni and to have come through the FCSS!
